More Pics!!

Eden's first time going to church. She did really well through the entire service. We're so proud of her.
She is 1 month old here. Her hair tends to stick up a lot. How Cute!!
Our Kitchen. We finally have our cabinets. Only the counter tops are left.

Eden impressed us one evening by lifting her head all by herself. She wanted to get a good look at daddy. She was even showing off by using only one hand.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE AND GOD BLESS!

Eden

Her 1st visit to the pediatrician - she did not like being on the table half naked. Daddy had to snuggle her in her blanket afterwards to calm her down.

She's already showing her personality. What a beautiful smile!!

Four generations - Great grandma Pearl, Memaw, Momma, Eden

Eden is doing well. We can't believe how much she has already grown. We're so proud of our little girl.

Our little one has arrived!

We are so excited to introduce to you all our daughter Eden Maeve Carpenter. God is so good. She is healthy, has ten fingers, ten toes and she's beautiful. Abby went into labor Friday night (Oct 12) and Eden was born Saturday morning at 7:17 am. Abby had a relatively easy labor and delivery. Ben had a long night.
Eden's birth weight was 5lbs 6oz. She was and still is very tiny.
We caught her picking her nose. How cute!!

Ben is so proud of his little girl.

It's been a while!!

Lake Charles Shower - The ladies at Lake Charles Bible Church had a shower for me and I had a great time. We got a lot of useful things and cute outfits. Ben and his dad spent the day in the wood shop.

New Orleans Shower - The ladies at our church had a shower at the Daspit house. I had so much fun. One of the games we played involved guessing the titles for different nursery rhymes. Initially, I thought it was going to be easy but it actually took some thinking.
I'm setting up the laundry hamper. Now that I'm only 2 weeks away from having the baby, there's not a whole lot I can do but I enjoy decorating. I'm about ready to have this baby. She takes up the entire space and often rubs on my ribs. The doctor said she weighs about 7 1/2 lbs now and it sure feels like it. We are so excited for that blessed day to arrive. My parents are in town helping us with little things around the house and we're enjoying their company.

We're in our house!

So, it's been a while since I've updated my blog. That's because this week has been crazy busy. Last Friday, the parish sent the permit for permanent service to the power company which meant that they wouldn't be able to hook up the power until this week. So, Monday morning I called Entergy to make sure they had received the permit. The lady said they did but wouldn't be able to go to the house until the following day (Tues.). Well, after work on Mon. Ben went to the house to set up our pantry shelves. He had been there for about an hour when I showed up. I went to the main breaker located outside the house to make sure it was off. I noticed a red tag hanging from it and wires running from the house to the street pole. I called Ben and told him that it looked like the power company already hooked us up. Sure enough when we went inside, we turned on the breaker and we had electricity. YEAH! It was funny because Ben was working inside sweating and unaware we had power.

That same day I called the inspector and he came out Wed. morning to do the final inspection. We passed and he said it will only take him a day to get the paperwork sent to the parish. The parish will send us the certificate of occupancy which will allow us to close on our mortgage. \

We slept in our house Wed. night but we had a hard time falling asleep because of excitement and also noises from a hollow, brand new house. Once we fell asleep we slept great.

I'll post pictures early next week and let y'all know of our progress.

God is good!

Here's our back porch. We are grateful to Brock for helping us. He did a great job. We put in our request for power so we're waiting on the power company. Things are working out just in the nick of time. God's timing is perfect!!

Ben's sister, Rebecca, got married this past weekend. We had a great time with family and it was a beautiful wedding. We flew direct to Birmingham which only took about an hour. Coming back, the baby was moving a lot so Abby had a hard time getting comfortable. Abby also got to see her parents for a few hours. They hadn't seen her with a belly so they were excited.

Just a matter of days!

All three bedrooms now have floors. Abby's brother installed them in 2 days and we're grateful for his help. This is the nursery (not much to see yet).

Ben helped Brock with the porch during the Labor Day weekend. They got a lot done working together.

It rains so much here that it's difficult to get things done as fast a we would like. However, the front porch is finished. Yes, the steps are wide. Abby wants enough room to put potted plants on the steps on either side.

The parish is working on the necessary paperwork to finalize. We need a 'permit for permanent service' to give to the electrical company so we can have power. We also need a 'certificate of occupancy' so we can do our final closing. These are being worked on and should be available for us next week (we hope).

B'ham Shower!

Our friends in Birmingham had a couples baby shower for us so here are some pics. It was so much fun getting to see everyone.
Ben was sitting sort of behind me and couldn't see very well so I had to show him later what all we got. I can't wait to use them on our little one.
Thanks again!!

We're getting there!!

Well, the driveway is poured but as you can see it is still a bit wet. It will take a few days to dry.

Also, Abby's brother started on the bedroom floors and will finish tomorrow. Things are moving along great. The front and back porch are almost finished as well.

All that's left is the final inspection so we can have electricity and we should be set to move in. YEAH!! Abby's looking forward to planting some flowers and beautifying the yard.

Progress of our house & baby

We are working on the last few things on our house. Brock is building the porch for us; Ben's co-workers are pouring the driveway; Abby's brother is installing the bedroom floors. We are looking to move in the end of this month. Abby is in her nesting stage and constantly asks, "Is the house going to be ready before the baby comes?" She has her good days and bad days. Ben is handling these last couple months really well.

We picked up the baby's crib and changing table this past weekend and Abby's excited about decorating the nursery.

This picture was taken in Tifton, GA. Abby was 29 weeks.
Note: *If you click on the pictures they should come up clearer*

We're having a baby girl!!

Yes, Abby is 31 weeks pregnant with a little girl. She is just starting to feel uncomfortable as the baby is about 3 pounds right now and moving like crazy. Here are some ultrasound pictures. The first one was taken when she was 13 weeks pregnant and the other at 21 weeks. It was such an incredible moment for both of us to see our little girl. Abby cried and Ben had this silly grin on his face.

Our House

We bought a piece of property in St. Rose, LA back in December of 2006. Ben's boss builds houses at a factory and is able to move them long distances. We bought one of his houses and moved the house onto our property. It was scary to watch but the neatest thing ever (you don't see a fully built house being moved down the street often). Ben and his work crew build the foundation so that the house would lay on it. It was tricky because all four corners had to line up exactly.

The walls inside the house were already painted but we wanted some color so Abby chose a red color in her kitchen.

Welcome

Hi Family and Friends,

We haven't been in touch with some of you in a while and we are so sorry. Welcome to our blog!! We hope this will keep you well informed of what's been going on with us these days.

Enjoy, Ben and Abby
